Lockets: A Unique Portal to Style

 Women have always adorned and adored jewelry since olden days. They are the main essence in their sense of style, a way to look unique and beautiful. Lockets have captured women’s hearts since time immemorial. Lockets can be found in many forms and are used in necklaces, charm bracelets brooches etc. They often have a story associated with them and are beautiful reminiscences about the past.


Lockets can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, however, the trendiest and often widely used is the heart-fashioned locket, and it can include anything either a wisp of hair, a tooth, an object of remembrance and even miniscule photographs! Lockets are mesmerizing because each has its own story to relate to. Every old locket when opened is a mystery in itself and often has a very old and significant story behind its existence.

Traditionally lockets came to being in the Victorian Era where they were often used to pass on secret notes or woo the beloved. Now-a-days, lockets can be used in a variety of occasions. They are bought and adorned for numerous events. They are often used as gifts and given for very close to the heart occasions like sister’s day, Valentine’s Day or to celebrate an important event, like an engagement, a baby shower, a birthday, a wedding celebrations or a baptizing.

Lockets of today are made in an assortment of designs compared to the contemporary old ways of being oval. They can be designed to be a ring-shaped, or a heart-shaped, and sometimes even rectangle-shaped! A few of them are styled with expensive stones or semi-precious stones like topaz, amber, rubies etc. to give them a classier look. Gemstone necklaces are sold extensively with lockets made of stones because they come in range of exquisite colors and transparency and impart a unique sense of style to the wearers.


Lockets can also have birth specific jewels, or engraved with the names of a beloved or their own. There is no dearth in the market these days and a variety of unique locket styles are found everywhere. They may be carved out of gold, silver, or platinum. Conventionally, lockets used to hold only a couple of photos, but now-a-days they can be custom-made and can hold up to eight or more photographs!

The recent trend shows a heavy demand for gemstone necklaces encrusted with semi-precious stones in a mélange of colors. These also have custom-made designs so as to include lockets. This has been especially popularized by a plenty of celebrities all wearing lockets with photographs of their children or partners.
